Haiku

A few years back I started writing one haiku (or more) a day. Condensing all the day’s victories or struggles into three lines, just seventeen syllables, simplified the meaning of all those experiences. Through this process I slowly began to see beauty in the simplest of actions. After a haiku hiatus for most of 2006 I am once again back in action. I will continue posting them here as I write them, but here is what I have written so far this year:
09 Jan 2007
Talked to him on Skype
At least more personal than
A text messaged, “Hello”
08 Jan 2007
Taking Benadryl
Runny nose and still sneezing
Cold-Eez doesn’t help
07 Jan 2007
Left my camera
Camouflaged by all that trash
Somewhere in Pat’s car
06 Jan 2007
Pat inhales cheese steak
Reciting goth poetry
He always cheers me
05 Jan 2007
Still coming off this
reeling, fighting just to breathe
can’t control myself
04 Jan 2007
airport hangover
too much flying and such stress
i hate to throw up
03 jan 2007
anxiety day
just want to forget all this
instead stay in bed
02 jan 2007
Still tying loose ends
planning, packing and shopping
the last day is near
01 jan 2007
Starting a new year
My resolution is here:
A year of haiku
